Workshops (Engineering & Technology)

  • Hands-on PCB Design for Everyday Circuits (TechFest2025-EW-2)

This workshop provides students with a foundational understanding of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design for everyday circuits. Participants will receive hands-on training in PCB design software and experimental practice, during which they will design and optimize a PCB layout for a given circuit. This workshop will introduce the process of designing and fabricating printed circuit boards (PCB). The workshop will provide a detailed overview of :

  1. The PCB design process includes CAD tools to create a blueprint for the board.
  2. Schematic capture/diagram of circuitry.
  3. PCB layout, including materials used for PCB.
  • Hands-on 3D Printing – From Design to Print (TechFest2025-EW-3)

An engaging and hands-on experience where participants will learn the fundamentals of 3D printing, from design to production. This workshop is perfect for beginners and those looking to enhance their skills in 3D modelling and printing technologies. In this workshop, attendees will explore the fundamentals of 3D printing, including design, material selection, and the operation of 3D printers. The session often includes practical exercises, such as designing simple models using 3D design software and printing them on a 3D Printer.

  • Advanced Surveying Techniques – Level Up Your Skills (TechFest2025-EW-4)

This workshop will focus on the sophisticated and precise methods in modern surveying. This workshop will specifically cover total station surveying techniques and operations, which are critical advancements in land surveying. The event focus will be based on :

  • Total Station Overview
  • Applications in the Real world surveying projects.
  • Topography Mapping and Terrain Analysis
  • Stakeout and layout for construction
  • GPS coordinate system in surveying
  • Data collection and processing for efficient contour mapping.
  • Hands-on CNC Workshop: Design, Code, Create (TechFest2025-EW-5)

CNC technology uses computers to control machine tools for precise manufacturing processes. Operators create code (G-Code) in a CNC workshop to instruct machines on movements and tool operations. 3D modelling and simulation software design and test parts virtually before physical production, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. This technology allows for high-precision automation and the ability to create complex parts across various industries. During this workshop, the participants will learn to a main target, write the code, dry run a simulator, and eventually produce a 3D model of a product.

  • Modelling and Visualizing Electrical Systems using MATLAB: A Hands-on Approach (TechFest2025-EW-6)

This two-day workshop introduces participants to the practical use of the MATLAB simulation platform for the modelling and analysis of Electrical systems, focusing on fundamentals and advanced visualization. On the first day, participants will get an introductory tutorial on commonly used features and workflows in MATLAB. This will follow a session on modelling and simulating electrical systems such as electric and magnetic field distributions, resonant circuits, cart-pendulum systems, etc.  Day 2 will build on these skills, covering system advanced modelling techniques using SIMSCAPE electrical components to analyze electric vehicles and unmanned air vehicles such as quadcopters. This two-day workshop provides an accessible way for participants to explore engineering principles through interactive and hands-on sessions.

  • Hands-on Transformer Design and Fabrication of Voltage Stabilizer (TechFest2025-EW-7)

The Transformer Design and Fabrication of Voltage Stabilizer course introduces students to the basic principles of the transformer operation design process, including calculations, winding techniques, core selection, insulation methods, assembly, and testing. The course will be aimed at manually operated transformers, and the contents of the course will be carefully elaborated on to touch automatic voltage stabilizers.
